This Barlass-Renfrew Chocolate Brown Possum Teddy Bear is 18" (47cm) high.

Possum Teddy Bears remain a rarity outside New Zealand, but have proved a huge hit with bear collectors lucky enough to come across them. This is in no small part due to the incredible softness of the possum fur and their endearing expressions; their black glass eyes peering coyly from under their floppy fringes. Possum teddy bears are hand crafted in South Island New Zealand.
Barlass Renfrew Possum Teddy Bears: The exterior of these artist teddy bears is 100% New Zealand Possum. Stuffing will vary but is generally polyester with some bears having pellets for added weight and balance. Possum bears use cotter pin and hardboard joints and glass eyes, except where specified. Barlass-Renfrew possum teddy bears are identifiable by their characteristic leather patch on the sole of the left foot. The fur on the bears’ faces is shaved to add character and definition, and each has a hand embroidered nose and mouth. Each possum teddy bear is unique because, although the styles are similar, the colours and tone vary naturally from pelt to pelt, and therefore from bear to bear.
Care Advice: Possum fur requires little in the way of day to day care. However, if the fur becomes dusty, this can be removed using a domestic vacuum cleaner. Before applying to the possum fur, cover the vacuum nozzle with a fine cloth (an old sock or pair of tights will suffice). This will protect the fur while it is cleaned. Sticky residue can be removed by applying a damp cloth gently and repeatedly. These bears should not be fully immersed in water as this will cause the pins in the joints to rust.
